Created by Sag Harbor-based Studio Bates Masi Architects, the 1,350 square foot modern residence of Noyack Creek Residence is positioned in Noyack, a village in Suffolk County, New York.
The client, a New York actor, was seeking for a relaxing getaway, and casual entertaining on a restrictive narrow lot fronting the estuary Noyack Creek. The home was a study in architectural theater :. A quantity of rooms in a cautiously scripted sequence that reflect his professional life in a subtle way
The path begins at the front door where perforated blinds slide apart like a curtain, revealing the loft-like living and dining rooms. The path of the cover plates from which the floor covering is changed to delineate the way across the room, sleepers seamlessly to an outer side deck. A wide staircase to the second level, in parallel with an interior staircase along a glass wall, acting via the grandstands for the entertainment and views of the water views. Under the stairs, hidden behind the stage for maximum privacy, the guest rooms of water a view shared by an almost hidden door. Guests arise, as if by means of a trapdoor.
Continuing up the stairs to the second floor, is the ultimate purpose of the master suite and balcony. The master bedroom is connected to the bath by a bridge overlooking the public spaces amongst which are lit by the glazed staircase wall. Lined with a stainless steel cable railing indication of a fly loft and catwalk, the road ends in the master bedroom with its wall of glass overlooking the water
windows throughout the residence are cautiously placed to the maximum natural light and views of the water while keeping the privacy of the nearby neighbors and street. The siding technique is manipulated for distinct levels of privacy as nicely.
